The production of cold rolled stainless steel strip occupies a very important position in the production of stainless steel. About 70% of the stainless steel is converted into cold rolled steel strips, which is the main product form of the market consumption.

According to the current traditional process route, the production cost from the hot rolled stainless steel strip to the cold rolled stainless steel finished product is approximately 360 Euro/t, of which the cost of the cold rolling process occupies the main part, especially when the 20-roll reversing mill is used. The cost of cold rolling is about half, which is roughly 180 Euro/t.

Therefore, it is of utmost importance to vigorously develop and adopt new processes and new technologies for stainless steel cold rolling to improve production efficiency, reduce production costs, and improve the overall competitiveness of products in the market.

In the past 10 years, stainless steel production technology has been based on furnace refining (especially AOD), continuous casting, and wide-range multi-roll cold rolling mills, thin slab continuous casting mills, strip continuous casting, hot metal smelting stainless steel, and rolling Leading new technologies in stainless steel production such as annealing and pickling continuous production lines have achieved substantial progress.
