Shanxi Tisco Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. (Tisco for short, a listed company in Shenzhen, with the listing code 000825), formerly known as the Northwest Steelmaking Plant, was founded in 1934 and restructured into a wholly state-owned company in 1996. It is a large-scale steel conglomerate that mainly produces plates and the largest stainless steel manufacturer in mainland China.
At the end of 2002, TISCO had total assets of 24.389 billion yuan, with an annual production capacity of 4 million tons of steel.
TISCO possesses advanced technologies and equipment such as the mining and processing of iron ore and other iron and steel smelting raw materials and refractory materials, iron and steel smelting, the pressure processing of iron and steel materials, the manufacturing and processing of some metallurgical equipment and spare parts.
TISCO has a national-level technology center, design institute and automation research institute and other scientific research and design units, with strong research and development capabilities. It is also one of the first batch of domestic enterprises to obtain the national first-level measurement qualification, and the subordinate measurement and control office has a special instrument verification center.
TISCO is the earliest enterprise in my country to develop and produce stainless steel. Since the 1990s, TISCO has aimed at the international level and accelerated the pace of stainless steel development. By the end of 2002, it had completed the first-phase treasury bond project of stainless steel system transformation, formed an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of stainless steel, and entered the ranks of the world’s top ten stainless steel.
