Stainless steel plates don’t look good when they leave the factory, and some are even black. Therefore, if you want to make the appearance you want, you need to process the plates. Before processing, you need to perform different polishing. Treatment, the current polishing is roughly divided into three types. Because stainless steel plates need to go through a variety of special processing, so that in the subsequent use process, they can be more durable, and the surface is smooth and corrosion-resistant.

Then the three polishing methods of stainless steel plates have those common points. The polished stainless steel plates not only have high brightness but also have a strong labor force and no defects. The different places are pollution to the environment and the difference in gloss.

Preparation of Stainless Steel Sheet Before Polishing

Before preparing polished stainless steel plates, the following preparations are required to ensure the effectiveness of the polishing process and the consistency of surface quality.

Steps to clean and remove surface dirt:

Before polishing, the surface of the stainless steel plate must be cleaned to remove dirt, dust, grease, and other impurities. This can be achieved with the following steps:

  • Rinse the surface with clean water to remove most impurities.
  • Wash the surface with an appropriate cleaner to remove grease and other difficult-to-remove dirt.
  • Rinse the surface again with clean water to ensure cleanliness.
  • Dry the surface with a soft cloth.

Identify surface defects and take appropriate action:

Before polishing, the surface of the stainless steel plate needs to be inspected for defects such as pits, scratches, or oxidation. This can be checked with the naked eye or a magnifying glass. If surface defects are found, the following measures can be taken:

  • Fill surface imperfections with metal fillers or other materials.
  • Fine grinding and polishing are carried out using polishing tools and materials until surface imperfections are completely removed.
  • For oxidized stainless steel plates, acid cleaners or other specific cleaning methods can be used to remove the oxide layer.

These preparations ensure that the surface of the stainless steel sheet is optimally prepared during the polishing process and the finish is more consistent.

The Polishing Method of Stainless Steel Plates

1. Electrochemical Polishing Treatment:

After electrochemical polishing, the glossiness of the stainless steel mirror surface will last for a longer time. The entire polishing process is also relatively stable, with low pollution and low investment. The most important thing is high anti-corrosion performance. This polishing technology is more suitable for mass production, so it is widely used in the advanced product industry. Because the polishing process is stable, the operation is relatively simple.

2. Chemical Polishing Treatment:

This polishing technology is relatively economical, even messy stainless steel can be polished, and the polishing speed is high, the efficiency is high, and the anti-corrosion performance is good. But there are also disadvantages, mainly in terms of poor gloss, and direct gas overflow, so auxiliary work of ventilation equipment is needed, and heating will be more difficult. It is more suitable for the polishing of small batches of messy parts and the processing of small parts with low requirements.

3. Mechanical Polishing:

The non-stainless steel plate after mechanical polishing is better in flatness, but the gloss will not last for too long, so rust and stuffiness will appear.
