Case Introduction:

A product company purchased a 304 cold rolled coil with a thickness of 2.0mm. However, during use, the customer found that the entire roll had several horizontal dent stripes, which made the several meters of plates on which the stripes were placed. Therefore, the customer raised a quality objection.

Case Analysis:

After on-site inspection, the customer said that there are 5 streaks, which have the feeling of depression, which can be judged as the stop roller mark during rolling. The defect is as follows:

Stop Roll Printing, 304 cold rolled coil

This kind of stop roll mark is generally a concave scar produced after the rolling process is stopped due to sudden power failure, equipment failure, spot inspection of the quality of the steel strip, etc. The processes that produce such defects may include rolling mills and levelers.

Generally speaking, one piece of the whole coil is acceptable, and this part can be avoided through discharge. However, the customer’s steel coil has as many as 5 pieces, resulting in too many scrap parts so that you can file a claim with the steel mill.

Case Handling:

After confirming the situation, the supplier contacted the steel mill to obtain evidence and claim compensation. Of course, if this kind of defect is encountered during Kaiping in the processing plant, the defective part can be cut to a standard board, or the remaining material can be cut off, to reduce the loss.
