What is the Difference Between Stainless Steel Hot Rolling and Cold Rolling

The difference between stainless hot rolling and cold rolling is that cold rolling is based on hot rolling.
Cold rolling
It is processed and rolled on the basis of hot rolled stainless steel plate coils. In general, it is a hot rolling → pickling → cold rolling process. Although the steel plate is heated during rolling because of the rolling process, it is still called cold rolling. Due to cold rolling after continuous hot rolling, the mechanical properties are poor and the hardness is too high. It must be annealed to restore its mechanical properties. No annealing is called rolled hard rolls. Rolled hard rolls are generally used to make products that do not require bending or stretching.
Its characteristics are as follows:
1. Cold-rolled steel plate due to a certain degree of work hardening, low toughness, the price is more expensive;
2. Cold rolled surface without oxide scale, good quality;
3. The product made of cold deformation has high dimensional accuracy and good surface quality;
4. Cold rolling because its production process is widely used in all walks of life, such as various types of cold stamping parts, cold rolled cold extrusion profiles, cold coil springs, cold drawn wire rods, cold heading bolts, etc.
Hot rolling
This is in contrast to cold rolling in which cold rolling is performed at a temperature below the recrystallization temperature, and hot rolling is performed at a temperature above the recrystallization temperature.
Its characteristics are as follows:
1. Poor toughness and surface smoothness, lower prices;
2. The hot rolling temperature is similar to the forging temperature;
3. The hot plate has hot scale processing surface oxide scale, plate thickness has a lower difference;
4. Because of its production and production process, it has more civilian use, such as kitchen utensils, general household appliances, etc.;
5. Hot-rolled steel plate, mechanical properties far less than cold processing, but also after the forging process, but has better toughness and ductility.
